The schooling landscape is evolving, and False Bay TVET College is in the forefront, recognizing that the traditional school design isn't the only effective means of studying. Their NCV programmes are intended for college students who want to start their journey towards a fulfilling profession early on.

CareersPortal.co.za had a chat with the Head of Department for Engineering Studies at False Bay College, with regards to their different courses.

False Bay's Engineering NCV programmes are made available at two campuses: Westlake Campus and Khayelitsha Campus. These Engineering programmes are for a 3-yr length.

NCV Engineering Course Entry Prerequisites

These courses start at NCV level two as well as bare minimum requirement would then be Grade nine certificate with a pass in Mathematics.

At the time the student finishes NCVLevel 2, they might then have attained a grade 10 certification. NCV Level 3 would be grade eleven and NCV Level 4 is grade twelve.

NCV here Level four is at the exit level, remaining equivalent to a Countrywide Senior Certificate (NSC).

Grade 9 is on NQF level one. Our NCV programmes start NCV level 2 which happens to be equivalent to an NQF level 2.

On which kind of students are suited to these programmes, they say that the world is acknowledging that traditional schooling is not always the only real method of becoming an artisan or getting to be qualified so if a student knows from an early age what their passions are, the NCV programme is actually perfectly suited to that student.

False Bay TVET College will assist the student to become qualified in his field of interest. Students who want to become entrepreneurs will also have access to their Centre of Entrepreneurship on the Westlake Campus.
